Clinical Services Offered by Dr. Katz

  • Diagnostic Evaluations

    Dr. Katz provides comprehensive and targeted psycho-educational evaluations for children, adolescents, and young adults. Dr. Katz will uncover your child’s profile of strengths and weaknesses, provide any relevant diagnoses, and generate recommendations to help inform decisions for treatment or school supports. An evaluation may include assessing your child’s cognitive skills, academic achievement, social-emotional/behavioral/adaptive skills, as well as memory and other processing skills.

    Dr. Katz has worked with individuals, from infancy through young adulthood, who present an extensive range of complex academic, behavioral, emotional and medical concerns, including: ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), developmental delay, intellectual impairment, Tourette’s syndrome, mood disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), giftedness and twice exceptional/2e students, as well as the full range of learning disabilities, including dyslexia.

  • School Consultations

    Perhaps your child has already been diagnosed with a disability (i.e., dyslexia, ADHD, anxiety) or has already qualified for and receives special education supports and services through an IEP or through a 504 plan. Dr. Katz will work closely with your child’s school team to collaborate on strategies to support student sucess. Dr. Katz’s work as a school psychologist provides her unique insights into how children function in the school setting and enables her to collaborate with teachers and other school-based profesionals to create specific academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions that can boost a child’s performance and help them build healthy and strong relationships at school.

    Dr. Katz can support you in navigating the educational system, help you make placement considerations, develop a customized set of accommodations to suit your child’s needs, serve as an advocate for your child during IEP/504 plan meetings, consult with teaching staff to help them implement effective strategies in the classroom.

    For school teams, Dr. Katz can provide customized trainings to teach staff to understand child differences and effectively manage behaviors in the classroom. Dr. Katz can create in-service trainings and coaching check-ins to meet teachers’ specific concerns and provide ongoing support that is individually tailored to the staff.

Dr. Katz received her B.A. in History from the University of Pennsylvania and her Ph.D. in School Psychology from Temple University. She is a licensed educational psychologist, a nationally certified school psychologist, and has over a decade of experience working in public schools with students from infancy through young adulthood. Her clinical background allows her to provide education on child development, cognition and learning styles. She can help you better understand your child, their stage of development, and their unique needs and preferences.

Dr. Katz’s work is informed by her training in developmental psychology, special education, neuroscience, cognitive behavioral therapy and cognitive learning theories. Dr. Katz’s training enables her to translate all types of behavior and her experience as a mother helps her empathize with your struggles and work to create simple, effective, and practical strategies to empower you to create a successful, happy educational career for your child.
